The dump truck was stuck at the bottom of a pretty steep hill. We didn't have enough chains to get the tractor or the skid steer to the top of the hill. They brought in another loaded truck and a long chain. They parked the truck at the top of the hill and pulled him out.

I don't have pic , but the short story is .... I had a small backhoe working near the waters edge on my lake property while the lake level was low.
I was getting close to being stuck and decided to stop. Later I was talking to a neighbor who had borrowed a BH from the hospital he works at. He kept telling me you can not get a BH stuck if you know what your doing. I said well come on and show me. You guessed it He got stuck big time. Buried the front tires. Buried the rear past the axles. Buried several rail road ties trying to get out. Dug holes 5 ft deep trying to pull itself out. It just kept falling back in the same hole it came out of.

Ended up calling a simi wrecker. The wrecker hooked up his winch and dragged itself to the BH. Wrecker chocked the wheels and stopped the drag. Pulled the winch to the BH, causing the front tires of the wrecker to come off the ground rising over 10 foot in the air. Got in the BH and wiggled and jiggled FEL: BH and anything that would move. The BH finally gave and started pulling out and the wreckers front tires slowly returned to the ground.

That would have been a great video!!!

10 ft in the air? Really?

10 ft in the air? Really?
Yep, physically possible, as long as those wreckers are.

Here is one going up!

That looks like it could be fun to drive!!!!

I used to be a deputy Sheriff, so I have been to a wreck or two, and I have seen wreckers at about a 45 degree angle. That is about all the drivers will do before they will let them back down before the J hook pulls out.

My rollback can pull itself in the air. It is pretty pointless to pull 10 feet in the air. After the front wheels lift up it isn't going to pull any harder to lift more and has the possibility of breaking the front axel. My Grandpas old army truck has two winches on the back with a total pull of 75,000 pounds. I'm sure it could pull itself off the ground.

CDN farmboy is absolutely right. From a physics standpoint the force is greatest right as the tires lift off the ground, not when the truck is highest

Halfway there at about 1 minute in this video.

So those are what, a foot and 4' off the ground? Far cry from 10'. Never said they can't lift but that saying one lifted 10' is either a fisherman talking or a very poor operator.

I've been a Volunteer Firefighter for 13 yrs and seen plenty of wrecks also. A foot or so is the most I've ever seen and any of the heavy tow operators around here I've spoken with all agree it's pointless to go any higher

Thanks guys, exactly my point. Higher lift on the front isn't representative of how badly something is stuck but of how poor the tow truck operator is.

We all know we have been there and it sucked at the time but throw out some of your worst stuck pics. This was our personal best which just happened to be yesterday
Marek - that is really bad. I took our skid steer "fishing" by getting too close to the pond, but yours was much worse. Looks like quicksand ??

As long as there have been tractors, there have been stuck tractors.

There is a video on YouTube of an old steamer smaller than the above ones dragging a duel wheel John deer around the field.
