Working rail roads and their tracks.

Snapped a few live shots of our tiny freight railroad today. 2 locos taking a day off. The cars have our world famous plate steel bound for the port of Wilmington or maybe Philly. They were made at Mital (formerly Lukens Steel).

Im standing at the front corner of our local hardware store. A set of tracks ran through the buildings up until the 50’s. Behind the black pickup crossing the tracks on Route 926 is the old Pocopson Train Station.

Looking 180* in opposite direction is an enclosed hopper. It is probably flour bound for Tastycake in Oxford, PA where they make famous delicious cakes and pies, but thats just a guess. Guessing “ADMX” is Archer Daniels Midland

Yes it is BCP.
Its now a Veterinarian.
A little further up the tracks is Lenape Forge. They have a siding, but its no longer used.
They pretty much ship everything by truck now.
For some reason our local railroad has pretty much endured. Its customers are Mital (steel), Scotts (soil products), Tastycake (food), Herrs Potato Chips (food), and several lumber yards. They also seem to be busy running LNG from ports to customers. Thers a few others, but those are the “big” customers.

I have RR experience when I worked for about 5 different car repair shops over the years as a welder. (ak carmen) This thread is about anything associated with RR's.
Where can someone buy pieces of track? I have seen pieces on Craigslist and they were very expensive.

I'd suggest your locale steel recycling yard. If they don't, ask them who does.

This thread got me interested in railroads so I toured a railroad museum when I was in Savannah Georgia recently, found out what they used for "oil dry" back in the day, toured an old turntable/ roundhouse that's still in use and poked around a few old pullman cars, diesel, and coal locomotives, got accustomed to the old tuxedo black white paint jobs on southern engines. It's interesting this museum tries to keep everything operational and restored when money and time is available.

I wish reporters, etc. knew the difference between a locomotive and a train.
