Working rail roads and their tracks.

Just ran across this among my YT railroad wanderings, several subs, and daily noties. There's a longer version too for a few bucks. (support railroad preservation!) Just want to share.

:D Train drivers are the world's best drivers, the way they can keep that whole train balanced on top of those little rails without falling off. :D:laughing:

Bruce
haha yeah, you're right

I watched a video of this trip last night but was so poorly done, I'll not post it here. If anyone spies a good one, please post it.

My sister drove thru Cheyenne the day Bigboy left. They missed seeing 4014. They saw the one in the park, which is the only one I’ve seen.
I’ve seen several videos on FB of the trip.

Drove past the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, IN last weekend. Just happened to see a little steam engine being moved. And, of course, a crane painted in Purdue colors.

I saw this Saturday on the way to Elkhart. You rarely see a slug and master locomotive on the mainline. Was probably being moved to Elkhart yard or Chicago yard.
Pics are kinda crappy, was trying to drive at the same time.

What’s a slug?

there are currently only two of these in existence and I have one.
are those pneumatic tires? how many miles worth of fuel can you carry?
Also Don't the tracks belong to someone? The RR companies? HAve they escheated to the state? do you have concerns about trespassing?
I get that you are only on abandoned lines.

Looks like some of those tank cars were carrying oil and a bunch of it went into that creek. That bridge is a total loss from the looks of it.

The bridge being knocked out amazes me. In the video you can see ribbon rail laying all over the place.

Thats a really sad story. I feel pain for the environment and the ever disappearing railroads.
Our local railroad just had another derailment. Lumber car tumbled into someone’s back yard.
3rd derailment in like 2 years. Its a small railroad and I’m beginning to wonder if they can keep having derailments and stay in business or get insurance?

Speaking of derailments, a while back I posted pictures of four derailed cars in the NS Elkhart yard. Well, they are still laying in the same place, haven't been touched as far as I can tell. I think they've been there the better part of a year.
Wonder what's up with that?
