Does anyone know what the working pressures are in a BX22 hydraulic system. I am in need of a cylinder for a project and the one that I have found is a 1500 PSI one. Don't want to blow it apart if the BX has a higher output. I have tried to find a cylinder that is rated for 2500 PSI, but they aren't available in this small size. Thanks..... Junk....

I'm about 99% sure it's 1840-1890 psi. I could check the manual when I get home(I know I posted it here once or twice before).

The hydraulic relief valve setting on a BX1500 is 1778-1849 psi. Not sure if the BX22 is identical.

Do you think that I could get away with using a cylinder that is rated for 1500 on the system??? Is there an "safety" margin built into them? I have been unable to find a 1 1/2 x 6 cylinder with clevis ends on it in any other pressure except for a tie rod cylinder and that won't work in this application. I need the welded cylinder..

I have a copy of the workshop manual for the BX23 and BX22 and the main relief valve pressure is listed as being the same - 1778 - 1849 psi. I looked very quickly at the backhoe section of the manual and I think it said something in there about a relief valve and it had a higher pressure listed - over 2000 psi.

Bill...... I have the welder, helmet, and wire. I don't have the inclination to do any welding at this time. Too many other things to do. Besides, I don't like the idea of welding on a cylinder.
I looked at the link that you have provided, but I couldn't find a 1 1/2 X 6 welded cylinder. I also have the problem of the overall length. I can only use a 12" approximate over all length. If you could supply me with a part number, I would be grateful... thanks. .... Junk.......

Junkman,

When I click on it that link in the post above takes me to the Prince web page that shows the following cylinder (second one from the top):

F150060CSSTCC-B (Prince part number)

1 1/2" Bore X 6" Stroke (Wizard Line)
3/4" Dia Rod, 15" Retract
Clevis end fittings For 3/4" Dia. pins
9/16-37 JIC Ports.
Distributor Surplus - New in Box

$80.20 net ea

The retracted length of this cylinder without the clevis ends is 11.5 inches.

I'm not sure but it might be difficult finding a cylinder with clevis ends that has a stroke of six inches and a pin-to-pin retracted length of 12"...

The welded on clevis ends add about 1.5 inches each to the retracted length...

Hope this helps...
