Good Mornin Guys,
My old work tunes finally died, even took it apart to no avail, but Im not an electronics guy, so I dont knw what that proved ! :)

I just got my new Northern catologue, and see they have a have a set of digital work tunes for sale. Presets and all, way fancier than what I had before, but for $49.99 it sounded like a prett good deal...

Have any of you guys bought this set and if so what are your feelings ? Im thinking the digital presets must be nice, we have two pretty good country stations that I can get while mowing the field, 107.1 and 107.7, so i really dont need 10 presets, but who knows...

Thanks for your comments ! :)

I have the deere branded worktunes with the digital. They work well. Tuner isnt quite as good as I hoped, but if you have a few strong local stations you should have no issues tuning in anything.

I'd give them a 8/10

I have been using the Peltor Work Tune radios for years for many hours each day. What I like about them is that they use AA batteries, and the rechargeable ones last for many days. Some of them are not 'tuned' [ the receiver front end stuff ] as well as others, and you will find differences in them. There main problem is the 6 wire cable that goes between the two muffs. It breaks after awhile and needs to be replaced. Not that hard to do and have done it many times. I use an old computer ethernet cable which has too many pairs of wires in it, but works. I finally have to throw them away when the plastic ear pieces finally crack and fall apart. But I keep the better tuned radio sections to reuse. I have a pair of Bilsom Hi-Visibility non-digital headphones that also use the AA's. They are a lot more expensive, but have better stereo separation.. and I think a better 'front end' than the Peltors. The Peltors work great, though.... !!! Here is a picture of a junked set, my current one with the new blue wire, and the Bilsom's...

Another thing, you can usually get them at Lowe's or Home Depot for that same price [ can't remember which one ]. Amazon usually has them for around $40 or so once and awhile. The Bilsom's are close to $70 with shipping.

I have a set of Worktunes digital. They are OK. Nothing special, you get what you pay for. Digital tuner is way nicer than the analogue. I also got a set of Ryobi's I would not recommend them unless you work in a shop where you need to communicate with people all the time.

I seldom use the radio btw, not much radio in our hood.

I too wore out a set of analog work tunes, I replaced them with a digital set. No difference in reception, but the accuracy of the dial is worth it.

Good Evenin Guys,
Thanks so much for all your informative responses...

I will go with the digital set, just not sure which ones, whatever I decide it should be a big improvement over the analog !

Once again thanks for your suggestions !:)
