We don't have trails; you take a compass and walk the line.I have boots that last because I buy good boots to start with. But everyone’s mileage will vary with any consumable item like boots, gloves, etc depending on how they use it.
Now, jstpssng, what the heck do you do to wear them out so fast?

I've slowed down with age, but used to walk about 15-40 miles /week in all kinds of terrain. Walking through undergrowth, blowdowns, ledge, water, and anything else that gets in the way tends to be hard on them. Ferns and raspberries can be especially harsh. Waterproofing is OK, but when you're in the rain for days on end your feet and everything else is going to get wet. I've had Redwings, Chippewas, Emersons of Maine, and various other brands of boots. The best pair of leather boots that I ever owned came from a salvage store and had the tags cut off; if I knew who made them I would have bought another pair.
