9 times out 10 a prepositions can be eliminated.

I leave out apostrophes when I am on TBN, then I have to correct myself by adding them back in when I am not on TBN.

I have always (as long as they have existed anyway) considered message boards more of a conversation...and people do not generally speak to each other in proper sentences etc...

A Quality Assurance Engineer for 20+ years and Technical Writer Document Reviews were part of life and not all were that good at knowing what a "prepositional phrase" is or is that was, and the Documents had to be sent back to them for review and corrections.

I'm no English Major and Grammar was never my strong suit, but I have always thought writing for the flow of the process was the best approach and reviewing with the person performing the process was important.

The one thing that has changed over the years and bothers me, is the deletion of "commas" !

Modern (English) educators are teaching the opposite...they are saying the comma is misunderstood and was being used way too often and where it was not needed...i.e., a mere pause does not call for a comma etc...
...personally I like using ellipses..

Never enough umlauts or cedillas to suit me, thank you.

btw, our language is evolving through a gradual processie. Experts are gathering datta even as we speak.

It could be and completely different thing that our grandchildren will teach theirs. ;)

My dysgraphia/dyslexia has always been a challenge in writing and reading. I always get words and letters mixed up and end up having to correct nearly everything I write. Often I get tired of it and just hit send. Reading things two or three times until it reads the same.

I too use the "Comma" more than I have to... WRONG, to me no, it gives a slight pause and separates a thought too.

I like the COMMA !

Can you expand on that? :D

"Dysgraphia" = The inability to write coherently.

When I write, I throw a lot of words in each paragraph, some are just small words that tend to add nothing to the sentence or topic.

I was kidding which I assume your statement was !

I was joking about expanding your comment but I do have dyslexia. Not so much dysgraphia. My dyslexia is mild enough that I mostly overcome it and no one would know. In school, test questions that were made to be tricky unless you read them closely were the worst. The combination of the two made it extra hard to understand the question. My mind would switch up words making the question different.

I thought so on the kidding part... my problem is keeping my train of thought clear.

I do write too much in attempting to get a idea across... I've done this all my life not just since getting older !

OK on the dyslexia, I'm not there, but testing in school always caused me grief when I had to write something that made sense.

I got more points off because incoherent sentences than for actually writing a wrong answer.

Funny how things change.

My biggest helper was the Personal Computer, it took the stigma out of writing for me, anything I wrote I could quickly change.

Now I have trouble stopping ! LoL !

Not a lot from high school stuck with me but my tenth grade English teacher said if in doubt about a comma don稚 use one. I have followed her rule. It has been a long time since my high school days so this has been taught for quite a while.

Don't forget the good old semi colon. There has been a school of thought that made a move to eliminate them. The definitely have their uses and misuses like commas in producing coherent thought and flow. I am not an English major either. It would not surprise me if English 101 is much different from what I learned in grammar school. Oxymoron intended.
