Woods bh9000 problem

Woods bh9000 boom drops in neutral. No external leaks, not sure if cyl needs to be rebuilt or something with valve body. Any help as to how to pinpoint the problem? Don't know what the relief valve looks like, don't know how to check one but am capable if told how. Thxs

Very common for the seals in the cyl worn or nut on the end of the rod loosened up

The valve might have load checks not holding.

I believe load checks only come into play when shifting the levers.

If the lever is in neutral, then the seals are leaking or the piston nut has come off as wdchyd said.

A perfect hyd circuit between the cyl and valve, will keep the cyl locked at the last position.

JJ is right a load check or correct name "transition check" keeps the load "cylinder" from dropping while the valve is shifting, or in transition. The return path opens first then the pressure. A quick and safe way to check if it is the cylinder or valve is toput a 2000psi rated ball valve at the base of the cylinder in question, lift the implement or load it and close the valve. If it leaks down it is the cylinder, if not it is the valve. Either the spool worn or a work port relief is bad or has crap in it. CJ
