i have a woods RD6000-2 finish mower, the middle blade stops when i hit thick grass? the outer blades mow great: was going to order a new belt: removed the one on the mower, it measures outside 117 inches: the two places i checked for belts, one says 118 and the other 119 inches:?? the part number is 1001244: any suggestions? i sharpened the blades and it didn't help.

Can you rotate the middle blade easily (without the belt mounted)? If the blade is even a bit stiff to move, a belt isn't going to turn it...the belt will slip.
The other possibility that comes to mind is a worn out pulley.
But the first place I'd look would be the tensioner...make sure there's adequate tension on the belt.

thanks for the reply, i should have torn into it before i posted: the pulleys are held on to the spindle with two 1/4x20 bolts: and they were both sheered off: i have the pulley off now, going to a machine shop in the morning to see if they can drill them out: bought this thing last week for $500, an it looks almost new...the driveshaft doesn't appear to have hardly been used: but they bought a brush hog to replace it, and let it sit in the weeds for 8 years: now i know why. shouldn't be a hard fix: even if i have to buy a new pulley.

You found exactly what I was going to suggest you look for. I have a Woods 84" and my right hand pulley (as you look at it from the rear) has a LOT of holes drilled and tapped.

Right now I only have one set left before I need to have the old studs burnt out or get a new pulley.

What I'm saying is have a few more sets of holes drilled and tapped while it is out. It makes for a lot quicker repair should/when it happens again.

good point: i priced a new pulley, @ $45 plus shipping: i will check today and see if its cheaper to just order a new pulley than have these two 1/4 inch bolts drilled out:

ordered new parts: pulley and bushing that goes in it: about $80 with shipping: since i bought the mower for $500, its still a bargain:
