I called WoodMaxx and reviewed my experience and possible issues with the technician. It was super cordial it just the two of us trouble shooting. We talked about things like belt tension, scalping with the mower, etc. Without a clear answer we decided that the belts may have been loose from the factory and maybe my reinstall was loose too. He said he'd put new belts in the mail right away, but also recommended I check pulley alignment.
Did the tech bring up that you were supposed to read the manual FIRST.
The manual says to check tightness before the first use and after 2 hours of use. Did you do that? Should you have to? Looks like Woodmaxx ought to consider using locktite on their bolts.
If the manual actually says that you should have. When buying chinese equipment there is frequently some tradeoff for the money saved.

It does state to check the bolt tightness. I don't believe he ever answered my question. I doubt the loose and missing bolts caused the gearbox issue, but without knowing how it's built, I wouldn't completely rule that out as a possibility.

Hi All. I see there has been some activity here, so here is my updated. I am pleased with the response from WoodMaxx and we are continuing our correspondence to figure out a few details on how to best resolve this.

I won't to make it super clear here that it was never my intent to defame WoodMaxx. Equipment from all manufacturers and all points of origin will have issues. I had early issues with my flail mower from WoodMaxx. My new WoodMaxx snowblower has been outstanding. That's not to say all WoodMaxx blowers are perfect and all flail mowers will have issues. WM has been a little slow in its response for my liking, but I'd rather that than some uniformed overseas tech support, so I will give them a pass. I will admit, posting here has functioned as an outlet for my impatience, rather than venting to WoodMaxx. I apologize for that.

To answer a question that has come up, neither tech at WoodMaxx brought up the checking of bolt tightness, and I am glad. To be honest, I think that would be a copout. Did I check bolt tightness of critical and accessible parts? Of course. Did a totally disassemble, reassemble, lock tight and torque every threaded part of the mower? Of course not. I honestly don't care about American or Chinese made. I accepted out global economy long ago. All that matters is that the issues I had are not acceptable after 3 hours of use. and it appears that WM agrees.

In summary, WM is trending in the right direction with a resolution here. Those who emphasized patients were correct. As of right now, would I shop WoodMaxx again? Absolutely.

Woodmaxx vendor were at Chinese new year vacation these 3 weeks, I guess they can't get help from China side this period.
Obviously, this problem is because the gear box is sitting too high, then makes the upper pulley unstraight. Maybe the plate under the gear box is wroing size and too thick, or maybe there are too much powder coating between the gear box and this plate, or something other reasons.
This problem can be solved by replace the plate under the gear box. Normally the seller should supply something as compensation for your labor work.
Their vendor start to work this week, they can send a new thinner plate in one week from China to Woodmaxx.
