Woodcutter\'s train

I don't do this when I go into the woods to cut but I thought it would make a neat picture. It actually didn't pull to bad around corners. TC40D with a carry all/trunk combo hooked to a wood splitter my dad and I built hooked to a set of running gear with a 6x10 bed hooked to an old trailer.

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Okay, now let's see you run that train backwards. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

It always seems like you never have enough space for all the stuff you need. I think you've found the solution Kevin.

That would also make a good advertisetment for any tractor company.

Slogan..I know I can..I know I can. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hope you don't have any steep grade to travel down when all hitch up. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Neat looking log splitter. Is that a crane for heavy pieces?

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Wow what a load! Wasn't your rear of the tractor lite with all that wood in the bucket? Have fun splitting, glad you have a log splitter!

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Mossroad,I have attached a pic of the splitter and yes it's a boom for lifting large chunks of wood(while wearing steel toed shoes./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif )
Picard335, the tractor doesn't even know the wood is there.
Jinman, I couldn't back that up A foot in my wildest dreams.

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Great idea - looks like the "train arrangment" they use for baggage handler carts at the airport or trams at amusement parks.

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

That's a nice looking log splitter. Did you build that yourself? I'm in the process of assembling components to build one. I am wondering how to set up the axle, I-beam, center of gravity, and tongue weight.

It would be great if you could take a few more photos showing a few more views. I'm very curious how others have done it.

Re: Woodcutter\'s train

Yes my dad and I built it when cutting wood was the "in" thing back in the early eighties. The motor is new this year, a briggs 9 horse vangaurd hooked to a barnes 16 gpm 2 stage pump powering a 5X30 splitter ram and an old loader cyl. for the lift. I don't have access to my camera for a week or so but I will post more pics when I can.
