2305 jd cub farmall home made tractor
just finished my splitter today so we are having a trial run to see what it will do 3-1/5 cylinder 11 gal 2 stage pump (nothern) 11 briggs works good and pretty fast now the problem a @ 600 psi on the guage it will not make any more psi dont want to go into next stage.any advice?

It is stuck in the high speed mode.

If it is a new pump, send it back.

There is a pressure sensing device inside if you wanted to tear into it. It just might be jammed up with some debris/trash.

Did you max out the cyl to see if the relief came on?

If you were splitting pine or some light weight wood, it might not have had a chance to go to low speed, high pressure.

the pump is used I put a guage in line can only get about 700 at wide open (3200rpms)

You still did not say if you held the lever at the end of stroke to make the valve go into relief, and develop max pressure.

Relief pressure is usually around 2300 psi.

the cylinder was maxed out right up to a chunk of wood engine was laboring maybe 3200 rpms an the guage was about 700 psi.

thats the one the breakdown is good thanks for the help maybe I can take it apart and see what the problem is .thanks
