Just though I'd share a rew pics of a couple of loads we cut sunday.

We actually hauled out 3 loads, the pics only show two. The last two pics are of the same load.

We hauled out two already split like the first pic, and then a load of unsplit.

Who says ya cant fit a full cord on a P/U without racks:laughing:

Heading back to cut more here shortly. This makes about 4 cord total taken from this ash tree, and we arent quite half done with it yet:D

That was quite a tree! Did the EAB get it it, or old age?

Nice truck loads.
Dave.

Emerald Ash Beetles killed both of my ash trees. I also turned them into firewood.

That's one big tree!! I would hate to loose one that size, but good to be able to get some good use out of it.

BTW, old trees like that sometimes have some history. I wish I would have saved the article, but they still find rifle "balls" from the civil war in some old trees, I also read an article several years ago, where a guy found some traded steel arrow points in a tree on the Brazos river here in Texas. Apparently there had been a skirmish with settlers and the Comanche in that spot.

It was rotten at the base. Lost it in a wind-storm in the spring. So I doubt it was the EAB.

I just hauled one more cord home from it today. That puts us at 5. And there's maybe 2 or 3 left.

When I said we werent quite half done, well thats what it looked like. This tree grew forked. what you see in the pic is only the small side. Behind it was a larger one. Before I went back today, all we had done was the close side, which wasnt really rotten at the base.

I got back there today, and started on some of the limbs and then chained to it to roll it over. Well, the base of that half is hollow a good 15 ft up. With only about 6" of good wood around the rim of the 30" trunk:mad:

O-well. Still a good solid 7-8 cord tree:thumbsup:

Heres a few pics of this mornings work:thumbsup:

Two more loads @ ~1cord each.

There is maybe one more load left, but I doubt it will quite be a full load.

So depending on how big the last load is, it will be a 7.5-8cord tree:thumbsup: If it didnt get too hot just now, I'd probabally go back and get the last one. Maybe tomorrow morning??

Unique stacking method to get more over the sides.

Of course the RAM is sitting nice and level like a real truck should.

Yea, I always stack to get the most on. It is easier with the bigger peices. The split stuff is where it gets trickey:thumbsup:

And it didnt hurt the ride hight too bad. Judging by where the helper springs are empty, and monitering it through out loading, I am guessing only ~2" of squat.

But with a 12,200 GVW I figure I have about 4500lb payload
