For northern Indiana we are looking at a significant snow event Monday/Tuesday time frame. Current projections are 6 inches of snow over two days. For us that is not a huge deal other than it being the first real snow of the year so people will forget how to drive.

Got all the snow weapons ready. Tractor is full of fuel, snow blower for the sidewalks is full and tested. Generator is tested and we have fuel ready for it if needed. Do not expect to lose power from this event, but this way we are ready for the winter.

Other than making sure you have supplies on hand any one make any significant other winter preparations? For us we always have supplies it is just a matter of makeing sure the are rounded out and freezer is full and fuel tanks are full.

Had our first now last night. 2-3". We usually get it earlier. I am all set for whatever comes. Was in town this morning and picked up another 100 lbs of ice melt.

Oh yes Ice Melt.... forgot about that. Last year we ran into a deal we could not refuse. We usually go through about 100 pounds. We bought 300 pounds. Still good.

We've had a couple accumulating snowfalls of 3-4" this year, though they all melted. Light snow now, maybe an inch on the ground, supposed to change over to freezing rain tonight . Temperatures all over the place...a few days well above average followed by more well below.

As far as winter prep, just the usual stuff...get the firewood under cover, chains on the tractor, change over to winter tires, clean the crap out of the garage so my wife can get her car in there (preceded by our usual discussion on how I think it's a waste of a perfectly good building just to park a car in),etc.

We have had three "snow events" here. 1" to 3". It's turned warm and all melted off. I don't get excited until there is, at least, 8" on the ground and it's still snowing. I'm retired and can pick any time I want to clear snow.

Yeah my all wheel drive vehicle and my wife's 4WD will get us whereever we need to go unless there is a ton of snow. We run a horse boarding business so need to have stuff cleared for boarders who may want to come see their horses. Thankfully we are a small operation and most of them stay home if it is really snowing or own all wheel drive vehicles.
