Apparently you can't get blinds with cords anymore. Wife wanted to add a couple more to our 3 season porch, couldn't find any. Ones she bought use these weird little clips to hold them in place, PITA to adjust, almost takes 2 people to do it (these are 72" wide).
Did some Googling and discovered that a law went into effect last summer banning the sale of corded blinds. Supposedly a "safety" thing.

Yes, it is a child safety issue due to strangulation by the cords. Around 9 kids per year in the US, not a lot, but I'd feel terrible if it happened in my house.

Pull across or down lightweight is the new design standard. I've seen a few that were ok to operate.

More children than that drown in a bathtub, wading pool or even a bucket each year. Maybe we should ban them too.
