Will any winch fit a rtv 900? I bought a 2000lbs one on sale for 50 bucks.

I'm interested in this myself.

Is there a "right" size winch? Is 2000lbs. enough for general use like cutting wood? Is there an optimum capacity for a utv winch?

For moving wood or something along those lines the 2k winch is enough....to actually pull the 900 out of mud if it's stuck you'll want a 3.5K + winch...if you use a 2k with a winch block to double your pull you can get by with the 2k winch but it's going to be alot slower.

From your chart it looks like the mount will fit a lot of winches. The bolt dimensions are listed as are many brand names. If your is different I'm sure it could be made to fit.

Cool. I'm kinda new to this. Going to use it for pulling logs out of the woods.

If you are going to pull logs it won't last long. winching to the unit and then chaining it to a drawbar will save your winch.

If you pull a log up and just take off it will strip the gears right out of your winch. When you have a hangup and the pulling unit continues the energy of the forward moving unit will exceed the rating of the winch.

for the rtv or any utv i wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 3500lb you'll just burn that 2k up the first time you use it.
