I'm putting an electric winch on the front of my SVL75-2. It's a Holmes (Ramsey) winch from a tow truck. My question is whether there is an easy way to get the 12V power up front, other than just hooking into the battery terminals and running heavy gauge wire.

I'd be trading for a hydraulic powered winch, then plum that in. Skids have the same problem tractors have when it comes to electric winches.

I second the idea of using a hydraulic winch instead. You have a continuous duty cycle that way and you already have aux ports plumbed. If you continue with electric you’d have to run heavy gauge cables all the way down the loader arms and be limited to a very brief duty cycle. It would probably easier and cheaper to mount a battery up front with the winch and run a lighter duty wire to help charge it.

Thanks. Most Holmes winches are driven by a chain pto on the tow truck. The electric ones like mine are scarce. The hydraulic models are extremely rare. The nice thing about the electric is being able to control it from outside of the cab. I've ordered an original manual reprint. It should be helpful since there isn't a material difference between a skid steer 12V system and a truck 12V system.
The idea to have a separate battery with a lighter gauge charging cable is interesting, and I'll consider that. On the track steer, I already have auxiliary 12V at the hydraulic hookups. Perhaps that could be used to charge the second battery.
