Will cut Bamboo Sprout in my garden?

I had a shop for awhile in an industrial area near the train tracks, I got the place cheap cause it was a dump, the bamboo took over a large part of the property, I had it cut back and controlled pretty good with some type of poison. I sold the place 8 years ago and I see it's taking over the property again. the new owner was using a dozer on it!!

Well I called it american bamboo cause that's what someone told me it was, but I really don't know if that is correct?? it looks like bamboo and grows 8-10 feet tall and can grow 2 feet in a day or two!!!

Its called Japanese Knot weed (american bamboo ), I have been wageing war on it since we bough our house. Nasty stuff.

Please post photos of this... We have some nearby in ditch it is dk brown and about 1/2 inch thick, grows about 6 ft tall. I want to plant something for washing out in my back yard. Needs to root and hold soil...

A lot of my lawn is free fill from the state cleaning up ditches. About 50 loads from single-x dump trucks.

Anyway, awesome, fertile stuff. Spread it, pick out the rocks, hubcaps, bottles, cat collars and mobster carcasses and the stuff is sprouting grass, without seed, the next weekend.

A few of the loads had some cane in it. You're right, tough to get rid of. My cure? The scorched earth approach. I built small burn piles in the afflicted area and touched them off. GONE.

Ummm i dont think you want to go there. Bamboo is not what you want to hold the soil. It will work and great but that idea is on par with the kudzu idea of the 40s. It will go wild and hard to control. There is tons of stuff that is better. Try millet and Bahaila grass, millet will sprout quick and the Bahaila will come back year after year.
