A few day's ago my wife ask me if I could make a flowerbed for an area she has been "dabbling" in, So I said "sure" and began the process of "hmmmm". Then I remembered a bed frame I had made for my daughter when she turned 6, wahlaa, problem solved.

I guess this would be called a "raised bed". I just hope the next work order she gives me isn't for a "water bed!!

Hope it meets her expectations!

Thanks guys, She saw it and it's STEAK this weekend!!:D

She got a kick out of it, said "you didn't have to take me so literal", well you guy's know how that is, I wasn't taken any chances..

I used to make/create metal art in Colorado and some here in Texas. Fixing to build a shop and start again, on the side.

I really enjoyed it and met allot of nice folk too.

Dennis, I think I saw something similar made out of an old cast iron bed frame up in Montague, TX. It was not nearly as substantial as your frame and had no critters. I can tell you that if you add a few bags of cotton burr compost to that sand, it will stay fluffy and tillable for many years to come. If your soil is like mine, it turns to concrete after two or three years.

I just saw a "free" add for cotton burr on CL last week!! I premixed with bark mulch as I put the dirt in.

Now I get a trip with the wife to the flower store....yeah

Western, I admire your sense of humor .... and your courage. :) Great job though. It has a certain panache.

A friend of mine in the neighborhood did the same thing with an old bed frame that he had visible from the street. Our worthless HOASS made him remove it. It's now in his backyard where the prying eyes of the busy-bodies can't see it.

I'm a truck driver, and I've seen lot's of them. All the ones I've seen are painted white.

But just to add..............I've seen flower beds made from just about everything in my travels............tires, wheelbarrows, barrels, cars, tractor-trailers, dozers, and even old steam powered tractors.

Good job though, glad to hear your wife likes it............now close this window quick before she gets ideas..........LMAO

I see lots of folks who think it is cute to put a toilet out in their yard and plant flowers in it. To me, it just says "trailer trash."
