I love dreaming and looking at used equipment for sale. Not sure why it hit me, but at one time all industrial equipment was yellow? Why??? And even today most of still is.

Only American brands are yellow. Look at Komatsu, Kubota, Kobelco, etc..

Agree american was either visibility or copying CAT.

I've always heard JFK signed into law that all industrial equip must be painted yellow. I dunno if true or not.

Can't comment on the new water based stuff but in the old Acrylic Enamel and Imeron days yellow and red were the most expensive and also most prone to fading. Spent 20 years specing and repairing fire trucks for a department that didn't seem to be able to decide between red and yellow. Spent lots of the taxpayers money changing colours

State plow trucks in many states are painted "Omaha orange" for visability so the tax payers can complain anytime they see one parked down at the bar.
What's big and orange and sleeps three? -------------------A state plow truck!.

I know that VDOT (Virginia Departmant of Transportion) use to have all yellow equipment... Now all white, claim to save big $$$ with white over yellow. Government study... must be right? Or, maybe kickbacks?

I'm willing to bet the resale is better on white as well.

When I saw "Why???", I moved the pointer over it, this is displayed right there, "I love dreaming and looking at used equipment for sale. Not sure why it hit me, but at one time all industrial equipment was yellow? Why??? And....". That was enough for me to right click and open in new tab to read it.

It may work different on your browser, I use Crome.

 works on the Nightly beta I use and Firefox too...at least for me.

I think the color was originally for safety as already mentioned. For some equipment manufacturers it's almost a trademark,,IE Caterpillar.
