Thanks all for the congratulations.

Joel: Not to toot my own horn, but where i live a new x540 is $82-8500:confused2: That explains why the deere dealer would have asked 7200. US prices are always much less than we pay up here. Thats also why i jumped on this machine. Theres no way i could pay 8k for a lawn mower :D

2many: your right, it is scary what things cost now days. The other day i was with my mother, looking for a new car for her, a Yaris (formally a Echo) has gone from 12-13k a few years ago, to 17k today.. and thats a no frills, econobox:cool:

Heres a pic of the new girl. A thread about the purchase can be found here Joined Team Green - TractorByNet.com

Thanks again for all the advice in this thread

Cub cadet Equipment will only last you about 80 two 150 hours without serious repairs - I got ripped - Belive me I spent $20, 000 their in about two years. Three commercial Blowers - all tranny's failed in blowers In about two years of owning these, dealer wouldent warrenty. I also baught two zturns, - Trannys all failed within 150 two 200 hours. All garbage --- each of these repairs on average were about 1000.00 or more. I will never buy anything WHITE's again. Its not just CUB that's just a sticker, the bigger picture is the one company that makes most of this sht- whites makes all of these Brands ----

CUB CADET | WHITE | TANAKA | TROY-BILT |

These are all the same crap with diffrent stickers - so I hate more then CUB CADET I hate them all- Waist of my very hard eared money

It cost me almost 20 bucks an hour two runs these - so equate that, not including gas or 150 buck for blades every 50 hours grrrr

Great site - hi fellow tractor people

Wow... I guess all the folks on here with well over 200 hours need to be told that their tractors are in fact, not working any more.

Anyone remember the spam sketch from Monty Python?

Hehehe.... That and remember to use commercial grade equipment for commercial usage! FWIW, all of the heavy hitters that make ZTRs in the "premium residential" catagories now use Hydrogear ZT-2800's, 3100's and 3400's on commercial units (3100 and 3400 are not listed on Hydrogear's website for what ever reason). That says something about their confidence in the product if they are willing to put it on a $5K mower.

That's funny, my LT1046 has almost 200 hours with no problems and my neighbor has one a couple of years older with 350+ hours with only minor wear issues.

Better not tell the LT1050 with ~350 hours that we have at work (hotel). it mows quite a bit of grass every week (3-5 hrs). It has been rolled once (tires slipped going uphill, the mower went backwards/sideways, I slid over a 6" dropoff and then the mower flipped), it has had a new balljoint, new steering gears/bushing (the old bushing wore out and the gears stripped), a new transmission drive belt and several sets of blades.
It needs a set of highlift blades and some new tires on the back, but otherwise, it does well for a 5 year old mower that has been thrashed upon.

I think we need more background on all these machines to put them on even ground whether they failed or are lasting very well. For example, do you clean it after each use, what type of grass is mowed (long or short), is it kept inside or outside, do you drive it hard (mowing too fast or leisurely), hilly ground or relatively flat and so on. I'm just trying to understand where someone is coming from when they post about the condition of their mower whether good or bad.

Thanks for listening
Steve
