Hah

You show me soccer players running 4.2-3 40’s and insane vertical leaps and I’ll agree with you. I won’t even get into the weight room stats, that would be too embarrassing for soccer players.
Show me a soccer player more athletic than Saquon Barkley or DK Metcalf! And thats just 2 of hundreds of examples.
The only thing they can do is run farther for a longer period of time.
Until then, that has to be the most ridiculous assertion I’ve ever seen on TBN.
The biggest difference I find in the games is that once they are on the field soccer players have to figure it out whereas football is a play-by-play defined strategy that is all about execution on both offense and defense. In soccer the coach is basically a spectator during the game whereas in football he is an integral part of the game, thereby soccer places a much larger burden of responsibility on the player during the game whereas one of my football coaches told me one time - don't think, just execute.

I often listen to the BBC late at night. I get a kick out of the sportscasters with their frenetic delivery and pretentious language as they try to portray excitement about a game that ended in a nil-nil tie.

I never could understand enough of what they were saying on BBC to understand what they were saying. It would be nice if they spoke english since they do live in England.

As a former player and coach, I think that’s what makes football even more difficult to learn and execute.
In football, to succeed, each player must execute his duties flawlessly. Each player must at the same time, adapt to how his opponent reacts to him, so on field adjustments are constant. In soccer, some players are engaged in running/adjusting to the ball, but the goalie or some defenders may be able to relax a bit while forwards and midfields are actively engaged. In football, no player is inactive on any play. Each player has a task he must perform at 100%.
As I said before, soccer players are pretty much in constant motion and that is more difficult than football, but the assertion that it’s more exciting and a higher level of athlete?
No way.
Football is much more exciting. There’s way more strategy, it’s more complex, there’s more scoring.
Football has higher level athletes. Look at the running, jumping and strength capabilities of the players. Side by side football players cant run as long, but they are faster, jump higher and are far stronger than soccer players.

And while you're at it, let the players use their hands. For heaven's sake, this is supposed to be a sport, not Riverdance ;)

Wow! "Each player must execute his duties flawlessly." Sounds like ballet or robots. "Football has higher level athletes" - what was that stat that came out a few years ago - for less than ten minutes of action per game and in between time they are saying hi to their Moms in the camera. "

An average NFL game: more than 100 commercials and just 11 minutes of play.

So the real question is how do you know what level of athletes they have in soccer because they do not spend a bunch of time jawboning about alleged speeds and standing verticals as they are calling a game. Damarcus Beasley is lightning fast but I have never seen a published time - it doesn't matter if he doesn't use it o the field - it's all hype.

Exactly. Let's see a football player run like a race horse for 90 minutes. Shoot, I'd even let them remove that silly body armor first. And whoever heard of a ball with points on both ends anyway?

And every soccer match has a dozen “injuries”, which are 90% fake.
See a lot of that in pro football?
What does that say about the character of soccer?

The silly body armor is to keep bones from breaking on hits which would break an average guys spine.
Put 10 NFL players in a room with 10 soccer players in a locked cage match.
Every single time, the NFL players win that.
No
doubt
about
it

How many pro soccer players also had pro baseball careers? Like Bo Jackson? None.
How many soccer players bench press 225lb 30 reps? None.

Soccer is boring. Period.
Soccer is so “exciting” it’s ranked 7th in USA in popularity behind slow sports like baseball, tennis and….ready for it….GOLF
lol
