As a former player and coach, I think that’s what makes football even more difficult to learn and execute.
In football, to succeed, each player must execute his duties flawlessly. Each player must at the same time, adapt to how his opponent reacts to him, so on field adjustments are constant. In soccer, some players are engaged in running/adjusting to the ball, but the goalie or some defenders may be able to relax a bit while forwards and midfields are actively engaged. In football, no player is inactive on any play. Each player has a task he must perform at 100%.
As I said before, soccer players are pretty much in constant motion and that is more difficult than football, but the assertion that it’s more exciting and a higher level of athlete?
No way.
Football is much more exciting. There’s way more strategy, it’s more complex, there’s more scoring.
Football has higher level athletes. Look at the running, jumping and strength capabilities of the players. Side by side football players cant run as long, but they are faster, jump higher and are far stronger than soccer players.
