Why do people not want to work?

It's the personal cell phone recording that causes problems. Police are in a very difficult position.

And often used out of context in the media. They'll show an officer's (possibly questionable) actions, but not what led up to them.

Curiously, why do all the cellphone videos they show on the news have the actual video centered with an out of focus background?

A person can get arrested and not be one bit guilty so they should not have charges posted in a local publication. Remember, innocent until proven guilty.

Unless you run afoul of the whole $me too movement, then you are presumed guilty even if found innocent.

He got arrested for PI along everyone although he was totally innocent. TBS

What's PI? Not familiar with that acronym.

It is your lucky day, you are about to find out! :)

It is because the "videographer" who shot the video did not have brains or experience enough to turn the cellphone horizontal to film in landscape mode instead of portrait mode. There fore when the video clip is converted to broadcast instead of having a vertical "sliver" of video going down the center of your TV screen, the broadcast studio guys decide to "create" two more "slivers" of video, one on each side of the original video to fill up the space on the TV format. If you look carefully the out of focus "slivers" on each side are the same exact video only "fuzzed" so it is out of focus. Now if Mr. camera waver had had the good sense to turn his cell phone horizontal instead of vertical and framed his pertinent subject matter in the lens using his zoom control instead of impertinent street and sky portions of the image he would have had a nice video clip to send in to the Television station and it would have filled the entire TV screen with good video.

Now you know. :)

I often wondered that too. Thanks. I have seen it a lot in compilations of fail type videos.

We are so lucky that we dont have legal system which allows ridiculous law suits for large sums of money, you can sue her to but only for documented losses, so there's very little point to do so. And society usually stand behind the police so things work out.

I am envious. Law suits are filed here knowing they can't win if it goes to trial. Hoping the other side will offer a settlement just to save legal costs. It's really bad.

A growing segment of our society see the police as untrustworthy and corrupt. That element looks for a reason to be confrontational to Law Enforcement.

Oh James,,,,, that is my pet peeve!!!! Even when taking pictures, turn the phone horizontal unless taking a pic of something extraordinarily tall.

I don’t see an issue with arrest reports being public record. If we worked on the premise of no news coverage until proven guilty, then we wouldn’t be aware of the legal issues surrounding OJ Simpson and George Zimmerman. They were both found not guilty in their famous trials.

If it's a child care worker charged with a sexual matter, or a business owner charged with theft or fraud, that persons life can be ruined.
