We use Deere equipment on our family farm and dealer support here is unbeatable...

I have owned kubota and New Holland but didnt have near as good dealer support or parts. I had to drive 45 minutes for kubota parts

my brand is ford.. and to a lesser extent NH.. at least the 90's ere NH's that were still using the ford patterns on the larger stuff.

main reason./. it's tought and easy to work on.. good parts support for the hi production # units.. especially the antiques.

A long time, well respected friend has a MF dealership so when the time came I went straight to him and they had something I was looking for, a used 1533 with a loader and low hours, didn't bother shopping around. The owner also had a MF 1533 so that is a good endorsement as any!

But really, I should have gotten a McCormick, since my last name is... McCormick :D Maybe next time.

Not trying to knock anybody's choice but when I purchased my second JD I also looked at the new Boomers, I really liked the looks of the TC-30 with it's squared off lines compared to the rounded corners of the new design Boomers...used to borrow my buddies Ford 1520 and those were no longer available so I considered the TC-30.

Might be just a quirk but I wanted a tractor that LOOKED like a tractor...

Great comments guys. Well sounds like the dealer plays a verry big role in yalls choices.

Yeah. Most of the dealers around here wouldn't give us much assistance when shopping for tractors. I think because they were smaller tractors, not larger ones, and probably less profit. So I bought factory direct over the internet. Power Trac has NO dealers. :D

that's why I like the legacy ford line NH took over and the large ones intot he 90's.. square and boxy.. I like that.

I grew up (literally) on JD "two-cylinders", have always used them, until I sold my last one a year ago. Bought a JD 790 compact w/loader, also collect JD garden tractors & attachments.

Wouldn't want anything else! ~~ grnspot110

I bought a Massey GC2610TLB because it had a better loader capacity than the Kabota. The Deere cost too much money and it was like walking into a slick car dealer's showroom. I'm at 30 hours and not sorry yet.

I own 2 Kubota's and have had excellent dealer support. I also have had interaction with some local J.D. dealers for research and they have been exemplary in their help and support. Based on my experience the dealership is one of the primary factors. The other factor is purely personal, how does the tractor feel to you? This and the dealer aspect are probably the 2 most important considerations you can make. All the numeric specs are just that, not much separating the colors now-a-days. All the brands have had a lemon or two. Do the research before you buy. Great info here at TBN.

MF is what I like I love the color. When my Dad got out of Korea where He was a mechanic for the army He wanted to farm but was short on funds. The local MF dealer hired him as a mechanic but instead of cash payment He worked off our complete line of machinery.I was 4 when I drove for rock picking on a 65 with a rock platform on the 3 pt., that tractor was traded in but I was able to pick 1 up for myself 23 years ago. It always runs, doesn't use much gas,was built in Racine 10 miles away, hydraulics are a little slow but will still lift 1200 lbs. after 50 yrs. so it generally gives me no reason to complain! If this one was beyond repair there are plenty of other red models I would like to sample .

I am just a life long fan of good tractors, no tie to any particular brand.

My Dad ran Case and Ford (not NH) tractors. My uncle had Furgesons all the way back to Harry, Oliver, David Brown, and White tractors. I've owned Ford, John Deere, and now a Bobcat. All have been good to me and my family. The Bobcat is is too new to say anything about durability, but the rest have been well proven over the years.

For me I had one green and two orange "quality" dealers to choose from. The decision in the end was based on me getting what I felt was the most machine for my budget. I got my Kioti and have been very pleased with it. Dollar for dollar I think I got more weight, features, warranty than I could have with the other orange or green. (Though I'd love any of them I'm sure).

I loved the NH also, but the dealer was just too far away.

First of all JD Green is the best. :D:D:D:D

When I started shopping for a tractor last century, I really like saying that, I was color agnostic. And I still am in spite of my first sentence in this post. My first job was on a farm where I ran a MF 135. The boss had a MF 165.

So my preference was for MF but back last century,, the MF's I was interested were made in Poland which was a big negative and the local MF dealer was having some churn in owners. MF was taken off my list.

That left Orange, Blue, and JD Green.

I created a spreadsheet with all of the different brands and models with the specs and prices. I think the spreadsheet was Open Office.(Another Thread) :D Once I had narrowed down what I thought I wanted/needed I started visiting dealers. One dealer of Blue and Orange would not even give me a price on a tractor. Yes you heard that right. I think he was more interested in selling commercial backhoes and not CUTs.

He did not get a sale. DUH.

I went to another Orange and Blue dealer and two Green dealers. One Green dealer was just too far away. The other Green dealer as well as the Orange and Blue dealer were close to each other and somewhat close to our land.

The Green dealer had the best price. They had the best people in the dealership. Over the years they have had very little turnover even though the dealership has changed names. I think many people in the dealership are related by blood and marriage. The difference in the shops at the two dealers was a big deal for me. The Blue/Orange dealer had a shop that was a mess. The Green dealer had a neat shop even when work was being done.

Joe the sales dude gave me a good price and was NOT a user car salesman now selling tractors which is the feeling I got from the Blue/Orange sales dude.

I can walk into the dealer today, ten years after buying equipment, and Joe still knows my name. Most of the people are the same behind the parts counter. I wish the dealership would sell cars. :D Joe would get my business. I buy my oil and fuel filters for my Ford from the JD dealer. For some reason I have always had a problem finding the filters from the various parts dealers and I spend quite a bit of time finding what I need. I can send a note to Joe on Monday and the parts for my Ford will be on my door step by Tuesday maybe Wednesday for less than what I would pay at the parts store. At this point I am buying JD engine oil for the truck and tractor because it is cheaper than buying from Walmart or TSC.

Dan

"You wish the green dealership would sell cars..."

Does that refer to selling an existing car brand or do you mean you wish Deere made and sold cars? I am with you on the Deere car idea if thats what you meant, if every vehicle I owned was as reliable as my tractor I'd be so happy.

I would not care what brand they sold. :D Nor the color.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

The service I have received at my JD dealer is so good I just wish I could buy a car or truck from them. I cannot say that about ANY car dealership I have ever used to buy a car or truck.

I like Kubota after dad had an L3130 HST. He had gotten an almost new JD 2303 but it diodnt seem as heavy and the HST didnt have the feel to it as the Kubota. I didnt like the Deere dealership from past dealings with them. Dad now has an LS I 3040 thats a neat little tractor. Im a Yanmar man myself My YM 3000 is better suited for gardening being easier to see the planter over the rounded fenders. It lacks alot of te other comforts but Its my baby. Deep down I m a Ford man. We have a mid 70's 4000 Ford at work and shes a good looking tractor and stout as an ox. I also own a 75 Ford 3550 TLB based on an industrial tractor. Im goin through an Oliver stage now lol.

As Mort the lemur would say:

"I like them, I like them! I liked them first! Before I even met them I liked them! As soon as I met them I liked them right away! You hate them compared to how much I like them!"

Mine was cost and value for the buck. The dealerships around here are elitists; their product are the best and the price them as such. One dealership told me KK tillers were garbage.
The Montana offered me all the extras on it, FEL, rear remotes and a good HP for 20,000. The reviews here on TBN were also good. I knew there wasn't any dealership per say, but counted on most of the problems to be something I could handle myself. Then the economy tanked and the minimal support I had fell away, so If I have any big issues, I may be screwed. IF I get another tractor, will probably be a name brand from a dealership; but Ill see how this one treats me in the long run.
