I have a MY2011 4720Cab - I'd like to buy a snow blade with hydraulic motion. which one should I buy...from what I can tell on the JD website, it seems that the AF11 would be the choice. any advise?

If available in your area, might be worth checking Horst 2000 or 3000

HLA Snow

I'll second the Horst Welding plow. I've had one for 7 years and it has been flawless.

The Horst plow looks very sturdy. I've had the AF11 plow with power angle for my 4320 for 6 yrs and it works great. Never had an issue with it.

I have the 9' HLA 3000 on my current tractor and had the 2000 on a Kioti DK35 and can't recommend them enough.

Do you think the 2000 series is heavy enough for a Deere 4x20? I realize your DK35 is only a couple hundred pounds lighter, but with half the HP you are more speed limited than a 4720. The 3000 series looks very nice, but more money then I want to spend on a snow plow.

The specs I found show the AF11/84" @ 450#, the HLA 2000/84" @ 535# and HLA 3000/84" @ 900# if that helps.

Since I have the AF11/84" and have never owned HLA I can't compare the two. However, I will say weight doesn't always tell the story as quality of steel, hydraulics and paint may offset the difference. After six years of use, my AF11 could almost pass for new and I haven't touched the blade with paint but it is stored in a barn when not in use. For just handling snow the AF11 does a superb job and I can't imagine needing anything heavier unless the unit will also be used for dozing dirt and/or gravel.

What Sunny said. I also have the AE11 84". And for snow, works great in tandem with my rear blade. I don't have the hydraulic angling yet, but that would increase its usefulness. For dirt or other heavy bulldozing, FEL mounted blades are probably not the best choice.

The HLA blades have lateral float to better follow the contour of uneven ground. I plow a couple of miles of walking and ATV trails along the edges of my fields and it works great opposed to a fixed blade such as the AE11. Yesterday I moved over two feet of snow and couldn't have cleared it to the same depth with a blade with no lateral float. Not to mention all the dirt/sod a fixed blade turns over. I wouldn't own a blade without the float, I'm constantly plowing uneven ground.
