Okay, I know this seems to be talked about alot around here but I am still having problems finding the right PHD for me. I want to buy since I should be using it off and on for who knows how many years. It will get a fair amount of use but nothing extreme. We will have about 4000' of fieldfence to put up and several hundred feet of wood fence.

Kubota wants $900 for a LandPride PD15. That may be more than I want to pay. I thought I would try a King Kutter for around $600 but according to KK themselves they recommend the little one made for the BX model which only has a 6" auger. That won't work. I have also looked into Leinbach but I can't find a dealer to look at one. (Temporarily blocked due to reports of company closure) seems to have a good price ($525) but I would like to at least see it first. Also, the 7200Jr seems to be the one but at only 140lbs it seems rather light weight. The SpeeCo that TSC didn't impress me either.

Any comments on the Leinbach 7200Jr? How much better is the LandPride? Is it $400 better? I haven't seen it in person and have seen very few clear pictures of it. Any other I should look at?

Scott99 - I have the Leinbach 7200JR and love it but I can't compare it to another brand. It may be lightweight but I have dug some tough holes with my small BX24 without too many problems. My biggest issue was getting my technique down rather than an issue with the PHD itself.

I purchased my 7200JR ($500, I think) at the same time I bought the tractor. My Kubota dealer sold both the Leinbach and LandPride brands. The 7200JR came with a 9" auger and it worked fine. I did go to TSC and purchase a 12" SpeeCo auger, just to make lining up the posts a little easier for me. The only difference in attaching the larger auger was that the collar was thicker which meant I had to purchase a longer shear bolt to attach it.

Attached are a few pictures of the 7200JR, not the best but it may help you.

Thats funny, I saw your pictures in my search the other day. Thanks again though. Seems like the Leinbach gets alot of play around here. There is a guy on Ebay that has the 7200Jr with a 6,9&12" auger, all for $600 delivered to the nearest terminal. That seems to be a really good deal. I wish I could find a local dealer to look them over. Leinbachs website is useless. There is no dealer info on it and their phone # is dead. Still waiting to hear back on a email I sent them.

I just picked up one of these from Smartfarmer off of ebay. I'd have been better off going through their website. It's a good looking product although it got beat up pretty good during transport (paint/stickers torn up). Got it dropped off in my driveway for less than $600. I beleive the JR model would be sized right for your tractor but I'm not 100% sure. They will answer your questions quickly at Smartfarmer...very helpful. It shipped out on a Thursday and I had it by Tuesday. Freight would have been cheaper if I'd been willing to drive to the terminal.

I have a Rankin 601 for my BX-24 with 9 and 12 inch augers. The 9 inch is 48 inches long and I can only lift it about 2 inches off the ground. The 12 incher is 42 in length which I think is perfect.
Pictured is the 12 inch.

I talked with Smartfarmer and EverythingAttachments today. They both recommend the 7200Jr.

There is one thing on the Leinbach I'm not sure of. I saw the replacment bits online. They are very different from what I am used to seeing. Not sure if this is good or bad.

Any buy the Landpride over one of the other PHD?

I should have mentioned this in my first post, the Leinbach tip is one of the reasons I went to TSC and purchased a SpeeCo 12" auger. The tip on the Leinbach auger made it hard to start a straight hole (for me at least). The auger bounced around if a small rock or root was in the way if hit within the first few inches of starting the hole.

Personally, I do like the 7200JR but the auger tip could have been designed better.

If it's the guy named Jim, he's good to deal with. I got a 7300 from him about a year and a half ago. Even with shipping costs I saved a decent buck when compared to buying power head and auger separately as they're sold at most local places here
