Which one to buy.......

New to this forum. And am looking for a little help. I have a home on 1 acre and the 2 month old husqvarna 54" riding mower i purchased is not doing the job very well. Serious problem with mud accumalating on the deck and very slow. Ive decided to go with a zero turn and have narrowed it down to 2 dixie chopper models. Im looking at a Zee 2 54" with a brigs motor for $4,650 and a Magnum 44" with the kawasaki motor for 4,850. I know that the magnum is more commercial duty than the zee but am unsure weather about the smaller size. Can anyone give me some insight on which of these 2 would be better for my application? Any help would be appreciated.

I do not have an answer but would suggest posting a pic of your yard so that those who know can see what your dealing with in order to give you a better educated opinion.

i dont have any pics but its flat south texas clay. I do not have grass in the back yard so pretty much all weeds.

I'd go for the heavier duty model with the Kawasaki motor every time, even though its cutting width is 10" less, especially with only 1 acre to cut. Either of those mowers will make short work out of 1 acre.

I don't know which Briggs motor is in the Zee 2. I've got a John Deere GT235e garden tractor with a Briggs Vanguard motor, which is Briggs' commercial motor and it's a very good motor. But I think the Kawasaki is just a better engine altogether.

I think the Magnum 44" with the Kawasaki motor would be the better choice in your situation.

I've got a 42" Toro ZR series and the 22 hp V-twin Kawasaki engine rocks. I wound up welding on a round stock bar to the metal frame that holds the bagging system to accept bar weights and then added 50 pounds for better traction. No matter what I've done, the engine has never bogged down. Most recently, I was using the mower to "brush hog" up to 1/2" five and six foot tall saplings. While not completely efficient at this due to a lack of weight in the front, the engine turned everything into mulch. I did have one sapling mess up a parking paul on one side, but I was able to easily sort it.

Anyway, all to say I'm super impressed with the Kawasaki 22 hp engine and the hydrostatic drives it is connected to.

What ever mower you get make sure you get the Kawasaki motor. I have Toro SS 5060 with the Kawi, great engine and great mower.

It has the FS651V kawasaki motor. Is this the good one?
