IMHO something about that ebay post "feels" wrong, I'd check out the seller before bidding

Yea, I agree, it seems like they put way to much work into that listing to sell it for 8,800. I haven't seen/checked his feedback...

He's been on ebay since 4/06, but hasn't made any transactions. That will be questionable. But we have plenty of time, we always wait until under 30-45 seconds left to bid anyway.

Yea, that kinda tells me I'd rather get one negative transaction by skipping that purchase than going through that.

Okay, here's one of the questions that I know the answer to-"Just go with the one you like best." I don' want that, I want to hear what you think would be best. Here is what we need it for-

-Light hauling
-Transport
-Towing
-Light farm work (pulling a drag, roller, spreader, etc.)
-Probably a front blade too
-Probably handle a little mud

Pretty simple. Now here's what I think we have it narrowed down to-

-Kubota RTV900
-Polaris HD
-Pug Badlands
-Gator HPX/XUV, 6x4

Remember, I want to hear YOUR opinion!

I know nothing about the Pug Badlands, but for the rest mentioned

-Light hauling= Any will do

-Transport= If it's people, the Ranger Crew hauls 6. If it's just travelling from point A to point B, the Polaris will get you there the quickest and it rides the best.

-Towing= With low range and a diesel engine, I would think the Kubota would be hard to beat for the heaviest loads, but that is just a guess. I haven't towed with a Kubota. The Polaris has the HP and tow rating that makes it seem quite capable. Last week I was pulling a trailer with seed and fertilizer with a Gator XUV 4x4. The trailer was heavy, but still the Gator just did not seem to have the power. Going up one hill it never spun the tires, but we slowed to a creep and it took everything the Gator had to get up the hill.

-Light Farm Work= I would think any would do here as well.

-Front Blade= I have no idea. I've never used one or even seen one, but a heavy machine may do best.

-Mud= I would have to go with the Ranger. In stock form, I have seen the Ranger go where the Kubota and JD would not.

More info- JD and Kubota(I think) have steel beds, the Polaris does not. Steel will rust and dent.

I don't really like the open floorboard design of the XUV. Kubota and Polaris will sit 3, JD only 2.

Polaris would be the most versatile from work to play. Kubota would be more dedicated to work. The hydraulic connections on the Kubota would be nice for running hyd. pole saws and such. Kubota is the loudest and slowest. Polaris is fastest and best riding, plus the '09s have tilt steering (I think, must be gettin old).

I would say that the Polaris is the most popular, so resale should be easier and higher. The '09 is the first year for the redesigned Ranger and first time there has been a HD. Historically (from automobiles, so it may not apply here) first year models have the most problems. Real world testing reveals a new models weaknesses and allows changes and upgrades for the following year.

For the same money as one of these choices, you could buy my truck. It seats 5, tows more than all 4 put together, and comes with AC and a radio. This is definitely the most for you money........:D

Thankyou very much for your input! With the economy, we have kind of slowed down on the "toy" shopping. Our family business is doing great, AC and heat, many people consider it needed, but times are still tight.

Funny you should mention a truck, b/c we bought an '85 S10, 4x4, manual a few years ago to use as a UTV, it just sits in the driveway,it needs a new battery, but after that, I may fix it up to become my little pickup. I would only use it around the farm as I am 13 and the Chevy definately ain't roadworthy!

By the way, the RTV can can seat 3 small people, not the av. size American! The RTV probably has the most power, but it has a few disadvantages- 1 1/4" receiver, etc.
