Which hardner for JP Paint?

HI all:
Ready to paint my 855 this 4th of JULY
I sandblasted and will put an Epoxy primer on the sheet metal.
I purchased 1 Gallon JD paint, they did not have a hardener so I went to my local paint supply house. They sold me Advantage # 281 Super wet look acrylic enamel hardener, 1 pint.
So, will this work with the Synthetic Enamel Paint?
My buddy the Hot Rod paint shop guy is reluctant to use this hardener. He say's the JD paint does not call for a hardener, and does not say what ratio. He said it might orange peel or chip off if it is too hard.

I would use the JD paint as it was intended to be used--no hardener. Why risk blowing the paint job after all that prep work

You're buddy is right, you do not want the paint to be brittle on a tractor + compatability of polyisocionate (hardner) with synthetic enamel might be a problem

Also make sure you scuff sand that epoxy primer thorouly or you will have adhesion problems--which will show up when you pressure wash tractor

most hardners are not for that type of paint they are for acrylic enamal I belive. as they are a chemical bond. also follow l37 post.

I just painted with JD "Ag/C&CE Green Paint" and the number TY25656 on it. The JD store recommended I use a hardener and they gave me DuPont 77S

I had no problems at all. Went on smooth as silk. No problems with sag/fisheye/orange peal/adhession. It is only about 2 weeks old now but I have seen no problems so far and the tractor is back to work. Hope this helps.

I also used JD's "buff" primer. It seems like REALLY tough stuff.. After I painted with it, I told the guy at JD how much I liked it. He said the stuff even makes blasting hard when they've used it. Seems a bit like a tall tale to me but the stuff does really seem tough. I did NOT use a hardener with the primer!
