Snowblower Which auger for snowblower?

I'm looking to buy a rear mount snowblower for my JD755. I'll be using it on a concrete driveway and a long gravel lane. The question I have is which design of auger would be better, a single auger or a double auger with paddles like the Lorenz brand. The Lorenz would run me about $2400 and the Red Devil about $1500. Is the Lorenz worth another grand?

Single stage vs 2 stage snow blower, it depends on where you live and how much snow you get. I get lots of snow, have a long driveway and have a 2 stage blower. A 2 stage will handle more snow and throw it further.

With my 78" blower I make 1 pass down the drive and 1 pass up and I'm done. No snow banks and I keep the FEL on for digging out the mailbox and piling snow for the kids. I plowed with a tractor and a truck for years, after having a big snow blower, I'll never go back to a plow.

Doug I would recommend the single auger. 99% of the times you are likely to use it the one auger will be sufficient, the other 1% when the drifts are deeper than that you can lift the blower up and do it in a couple passes until you're past the drift.
