Which 3 pt hitch woodsplitter?

Do you remember what thread it was posted in? I'd like to see how they did their's as I have already decided that I will be beefing up mine somehow, I did some searching but could'nt find it.

I have the SpeeCo. I have no complaint at all with it. I wouldn't beef up the legs. Right after I got mine I backed up and didn't look around. The hitch was not raised up all the way, and it dug into the ground. All it did was to shear a bolt off " that is what it is suppose to do". I replaced the bolt and now everytime I back up I look around to make sure it is raised up off the ground. I think the legs are very strong and stable. It stands very firm while I'm operating it. I would use it for awhile before you make any changes. I think you will be very happy with it.

I made up all my hoses and plumbed everything up hooked it up to the tractor and carried it to a big tree that I had started cutting up, it is as some had said a little slow but it never grunted on some very big knotty oak wood, I only have 8.1 gallons of flow to the splitter and was a little nervous but as some of you guys had said it was fast enough and strong enough for me, thanks again for all you guys help.

Anyone have any suggestions for a 3 pt splitters for a BX2360 or similar tractor? Would prefer not to have to purchase a separate pump which doubles/triples the price.

With that small of a tractor, go buy a stand alone unit or get one with the pump driven off the PTO.

Your tractor only lists 6.3gpm, which is more than likely the total of BOTH the main pump and powersteering pump. So you probabally actually only have ~3.5-4gpm flow avaliable. That will make for a VERY SLOW splitter. and ~2200psi isnt going to generate as much force either.

Not to mention, do you already have rear remotes on your machine, cause they can be costly to have installed.

So basically, you can spend $700+ for a 3PH splitter, and it be very slow, or you can spend ~1000-1200 for a standalone unit like a huskee from TSC and it be much quicker, cheaper to operate, and have more force.

My tractor has about 8.1 gallons of flow to the splitter and it is a little slow but plenty fast enough for me if as stated in earlier post you may only have 3 or 4 gallons of flow to the splitter, I'm not sure you would be satisfied. Good luck.

How do the stand alone splitters generate the necessary tpm flow rate? If they have a self contained hydraulic pump, how come they are less expensive than a separate hydraulic pump for a 3 pt hitch model?

Stand alones use a 2-stage pump.

Without trying to go into detail, just google how a 2-stage hydraulic pump works and you will find pleanty to read.
