I'd caution against storing anything rust-prone in a barn with chickens.

The chickens and goats are in a different section of the barn, separated by a wall. Their area is fenced off, and they have their own doorway to the pen behind the barn so no problems. They don't come near the tractor.

I rented space winters years ago in a barn for my R-60 BMW motorcycle. All was well until the year the owner kept a flock of hens nearby. Bike was covered, but handlebars and exhaust and rims rusted that winter. Pigs always had their own pen, so I don't know about their affect on steel.
