I have a B7500HST and recently at 45 hours performed my 50 hour maintenance. When my tractor was new one of the first things I did was check the engine oil, front axle hydro oil and rear hydro oil. Of course, all were within the indicated range on their various dipsticks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Since that time I have only regularly checked the engine oil. I have had the FEL on and off about a half dozen times and have had a few drops leak out each time, which I figured was normal. I was not concerned because I knew that the hydro capacity was over 3 gallons. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif When I did my 50 hour service I did not check the hydro level beforehand and just drained it from both indicated rear plugs. I would guess that just slightly more that 1 1/2 gallons came out. I changed both filters and know that they would have added a little more to the total quantity. I triple checked the capacity in the manual to be sure it read 3.3 gallons. After putting the 2 new filters on and filling it I would have to say it took 3.3 gallons. So what happened to about 2 gallons of my hydraulic fluid? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The tractor is always inside my pole barn or shed and I have never noticed any leaks while it has been parked nor did I see any evidence of leaking while I was underneath doing the service. Am I missing something here; I'm new to hydraulics on a tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

ZMANSMAC,

Better check your owners manual a little closer. There are 4 drain plugs on the B7500HST transmission, the 2 that you probably took out at each rear axle housing, 1 on the side of the mid PTO housing and 1 that is up near the rear of the engine (this one is a little hard to find). So, you probably really only drained about half of the old oil out. Just make sure that you didn't add the full amount and over-fill it when you re-filled the transmission.

If you find the other drain plugs, you might want to change the oil again (to get all the old stuff out) and clean the screen again, but I would probably let the filters go until next time. If you have trouble locating the drain plugs, your dealer could probably show you on a tractor on their lot. Good luck!

I remember changing the fluid on my L4310. The manual says 15 gallons but it took less than this for the change. Some must stay behind.

I'll check my manual again about the 4 plugs when I get home from work. But if that's true the additional 2 plugs must only drain a small amount of oil. I didn't give this detail before but after filling the system back up, while checking the dipstick, I did run the tractor around for a while to get the filters filled up and then had to add a little more to get the reading on the dipstick up to snuff. The total amount of oil I put back in was well over 3 gallons (one 2 1/2 gallon container plus about 3/4 of a one gallon container). If all of the original oil was not drained out as you are assuming then I shouldn't have been able to add the full capacity amount back in and have the dipstick read the correct level. So I'm still confused about this. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

When I changed the hydraulic oil on my B2400, I got ALL of it out. The manual shows about 4 drain plugs, but there are others. Using them helps get the last half gallon or so.

As I recall, I was able to remove about six plugs and bolts.
