I have a wheel horse 520. I have had to start the tractor with the start up mode on a battery charger. Last Sunday as I was mowing, the tractor just "shut down". I started it right back up but noticed that the guages and lights were not working. Tractor works fine otherwise. I checked the fuses and they appear to be fine. I am going to replace the fuses to see if the existing 10amp or 20 amp might be bad but I can't see it. I started it again last night and it runs fine but no guages or lights? Could it be the alternator? Would explain battery not charging. The battery seems fine. The guages must be a fuse? very wierd!! Can anyone help??

Do you have a voltmeter? A. check the voltage w/ the engine off. B. Check the voltage as you crank the starter, C. check the voltage as the engine is running.

The off volts should be near 12
cranking should be >10
running should be 13-14

A & B low - > bad battery
C low - > bad alternator or regulator or something else in the charging system

Also check all cables and connections etc. Should be clean and tight
