What's Your Favorite Sandwich...???

When I was a kid I loved cheese and tomato sauce in a sandwich, I tried it recently, it was awful....
Sounds like something my mom would pass off to me and my sister when we were little. She liked it... I went hungry until I could sneak into the pantry and find something better.

This time of year (at least in the south) a common delight is what are often called "mater samwiches"...sliced vine ripe home grown tomato (usually) on white bread with mayo, salt and pepper...!

This time of year here in the south...sliced (home grown, vine ripe) tomato is a staple side dish with all meals including breakfast...

I remember when I was a kid we would have peanut butter and tomato sandwiches.

We are having sliced tomatoes from our garden on a bed of burrata cheese on a toasted wafer with a drizzle of good quality olive oil for a before dinner snack tonight.

This buys my wife time to craft the main course. Which tonight is me doing smoked pork ribs on the bbq. She got off easy and well deserved.

Oh that sounds good. My tomatoes are late this year but I need all the tomato recipes I can get with about 60 plants setting fruit.

Sun Sugars... smaller but bigger than little cherry sized orange ones grown outside. And Big Beef reds in the greenhouse.

My big beef maters against the barn to get heat. No color yet.

When I was a kid my father would sometimes have PB & tunafish sandwiches. I tried it a couple of times, not as bad as it sounds.

We've been 2-3 weeks ahead with 'most everything this year...been a warmer, dryer summer than usual. Usually I don't have ripe tomatoes until late August, we've had several of one variety. Don't know what kind they are...a few years ago my BIL gave us a couple plants, my wife really liked those tomatoes so I saved some seeds and plant a couple each year. You gotta eat 'em as soon as they ripen...they don't keep worth squat.
Plum tomatoes are all still small and green.

I am hoping to have some ripe by the end of August but it is going to be nip and tuck with our weather this year.
