Just joined the forum - although I have been reading it for awhile. Last summer my wife & I moved into the city (Columbus, MS) and now have 7.5 acres. That痴 the reason I just bought my (first) tractor - a 2007 JD 790, 4WD and 300 FEL. Can稚 wait to get ride it after work and even more anxious to do something useful with it. I don't have any implements expect the FEL.

Anyway, my first idea is to have a way to water plants around the property so I thought about getting a carry all and mounting 1 or 2 55 gal drums on it. King cutter makes one with 1000 lbs capacity. 55 gal of water weighs about 450 lbs so the carry all couls acomodate 2 drums. I知 not sure how to do the hose. I guess gravity few is ok.

Or maybe there is a better way. Appreciate any ideas.

You could get a trailer with a tank on it, and use a pto pump to spray the water/fertilizer over the whole 7.5 acres.

I've used a couple of plastic 55gal drums for watering seedling trees. I bought them for $9 each at Rural King (farm store), and then added some connectors so I can mate garden hoses to them. Then either in my pickup bed or using the FEL bucket, I lay them on their sides and allow gravity to flow water through the garden hoses. Not enough pressure to use a sprayer, but good enough for keeping my seedlings alive this very dry summer.

Hop on the tractor , drive down to the pub and get your wife to water the trees while your away . Obvious........

Your idea is better than mine....I would suggest hooking up a disc behind your tractor and running over the plants with it. No plants...NO watering woes....and a lawn or pasture that is easier to mow....NO TRIMMING!!;)

Hey Eddie, If you like some of those basket style totes that are about 250 gallons I can get them and clean them for you. I made a couple of waterers like the one on the wagon in the above posts. I live in Iuka MS. Your about 100 miles south of me.

attach a chain to the draw bar and to the plant, then drag the plant to water

I built a 3pt carry all that is higher than the standard carry all that holds a 35gal tank with a garden hose and shut off bib I use for watering my trees that need it during the summer time.

I pull water from one of my ponds with a trash pump.
