The other day my son emails me a web page link that blew me away. It's a photo gallery create by a young American couple who vacationed for a weekend last May just up the road from where I live. I have lived here most of my life and raised my family here. I have always loved the beaches, the hiking trails, the water etc. but their photos bring out the real beauty of the local landscape/seascape. Looking at the photos is like an awakening. I see theses views all the time but never seem to give them a second thought. Thanks to this young couple I will drive more slowly Monday and enjoy the drive much more.

Hey, I've been there, but in the winter. Did some rock climbing. I guess it's a mecca for scuba divers as there are all sorts of shipwrecks under that cold water. Bruce Penninsula is also where I learned that the Niagara Escarpment is a sinle geological formation that runs from Niagara Falls, through the Bruce Penninsula and over to Door County Wisconsin. Look at a map, it's pretty amazing.

Wow that water is beautiful, does it ever warm up enough to swim in with out a dry suit?

On the Lake Huron side the water is often warm enough to swim by mid June. It depends on the winds. On-shore winds will quickly warm the water and off-shore winds will cool the water.

Now on the Georgian Bay side I have swam as early as mid June but that is unusual. By mid July the surface water is usually in the 60-65 degree F range. The water warms even more in August.

If not for the trees, I would have guessed somewhere in the tropics. I've been to the Georgian Bay fishing a few times. What a beautiful area.
If you go to Bruce Peninsula - Your Guide to the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario., that it identical to a picture they have on the website. Must be pretty popular.

Thanks for the link. One of our favorite places to visit. Need to add it to our 2008 trip list.
