What would you look for in your next tractor? I know the things I wish were differnet on my 2615 is a good starting point.

1. First of all I would want more HP. I wish I would have ended up with the same frame/tire size but a little more HP like the 3215. My next tractor may be in the next size up altogether not sure.

2. Clearence for tire chains. It's one thing you never think about until after you buy a tractor then decide to run chains for the winter. I had a track down & purchase wheel spacers for my tractor to be able to run chains

3. "skid steer" bucket. I have thought of lots of cool things I could do with a quick release attachment set up.

4. Factory rear hydro outputs. Mine doesn't have them,...I wish it did.

5. Quality head lights. I'm sorry but th eheadlights on the 2615 are a joke. They are like something from a kids Powerwheels toy.

6. Better brakes & parking brake set up. Like hydralic disk brakes and something with a pull lever parking brake not a push this REALLY hard, then pull this up at the same time, set up.

7. A HEATED FACTORY CAB!!!! This is a huge price difference so it might never happen unless I could get a deal on a used tractor but I mostly use mine for snow removal so it would be nice to have a cab tractor.

8. A better fit & finish cockpit. I was looking at my tractor & even if I tried to make a nice heated cab I don't know how I would ever get it sealed up becasue the way it's made is so sloppy with all the big openings around all the levers, a sold floor with a nice rubber mat over it, etc.

9. Electric on the fly PTO engagement. Not a BIG deal but kind of a clumsey set up in this day & age to work a big ole lever and the clutch to enage/disengage the PTO.

10. a cup holder. Once again not a BIG deal but it wouldn't have been that hard for them to add one on to the tractor.

11. Stronger bucket lift capacity. It really rots when you scoop up a full load of sand but can't lift it without backing out of the pile some first.

12. A better fuel tank location/design. Once agian not a BIG deal but it is akward kneeling on your seat while trying to dump fuel into the tank without spilling it everywhere.

13. a better seat. Swiveling, suspension, etc.

Somethings I already have that I will be looking for again:

Hydostatic transmission, Good ROPS, seatbelt, diesel, Non China made, less than $25,000, industrial tires, same size or larger tires, qiuet exhaust, parts easily available, mid PTO, Mahindra?

Come on down, I have a 3616 Cab tractor with loader on the lot, that would fit your order nicely.

I disagree with you on no. 9, as your setup on the 2616 can be enguaged gradually, it is a very tried and true setup and never has an electrical problem that would keep it from enguaging. The push button setups are are very radical when they are turned on. The power is not applied gradually to the equipment. I think you will know what I mean.

Here are a few items I look for specifically regardless of brand.

Operators station and seat, it needs to have plenty of room so you can stretch out a little to keep from cramping up and a good seat and suspension so you don't get sore.

Wheelbase, I try to get the longest wheel base tractor I can that will fit my needs. The longer wheel base helps smooth out the bumps in the field. If your main use is in woods or other tight quarter areas then you will want the shortest wheel base available. The tractor also needs to be able to meet my width requirements. My field tractors need to be able to adjust to row widths and my vineyard tractors need to stay under 68" overall width (I prefer 60").

Tires, I prefer radials but I like to get the largest tires available that still meet my needs. Your tractor is going to weigh the same (plus or minus a few pounds) so if you have skinny tires on soft ground you will sink faster then if you have wide tires. Since I deal with a lot of soft ground I look for wide tires. But this is specific to my own use/area.

The other things I require are at least two sets of hydraulic remotes.

If I was looking for a single tractor to use as a property maintance tractor I would want something with at least 30pto hp, FWA, removeable loader with SS quick change buckets/attachments, 3pt hitch with telescopic stabilizer arms, good seat and seat suspension (air ride would be great), a quiet factory cab, big fat R-1 tires (again this is for my own area/use), entry from both sides of the cab, exhaust routed up by the cab post to keep the sight lines clean, sloped hood, good heat and ac in the cab, slightly tinted windows, cup holder, tool box that can hold basic tools, large fuel tank that is protected and easy to fill (location mainly, I fill with a hand pump so I am not holding anything heavy but its so hard to look into the fuel tank on some of my tractors to see how full they are), cast iron weights on the front and rear wheel weights (I don't like filled tires anymore, you pay for the liquid then if you have a leak you have to pay to have the fluid removed, put back in and pay to have more added to fill what you lost, its just a mess. Cast weights you can remove before you pull the wheel off so you remove a lot of weight immediately, no mess, less danger).

There are other items as well, tilt steering wheel, good step(s), digital instrument panel that shows mph as well as rpm (this is handy for spraying/spreading), joystick loader control, quick raise 3pt and return (very handy if you do a lot of 3pt work), lift arm controls on the rear of the cab with telescopic arms for ease of attaching implements, lots of lights on the front and back (you can never have enough lights), bright flashers. I'm sure I forgot something but oh well.

The transmission is a little tough, I love gear trannys with shuttle shift. Something with 12 forward speeds is about perfect. I have so little expereince with hydros that its hard to suggest anything. That would most likely have to be a "feel" decision at the time of purchase. Find a couple tractors that meet your needs and see which transmission "feels" the best to you.

You just described Kioti tractors, DK 40 with or without cab probably fits your list the best (no bias here :))

Mahindra 5035 has a lot of those wish items. There are some that I added, like push a button then push really hard to set the parking brake ( no need to bend down, helps my bad back). I guess there are always things that can be made better on all tractors. Happy Thanksgiving to all. A day we have to be thankful for our tractors.

I'm on a finacial plan with my wife so not for a while. We are debt free except our house & have a good emergency fund right now. We are going to try to pay off our house in 10 years. So maybe after that unless I get a raise or something.;)
