What would be the ideal B2910 setup?

That's a h*ll of a collection, RonJ: Did you buy the boom pole or make it? I'm thinking that I'll need one when I build my pole barn to get the roof trusses up, but I'll need to be able to lift the peak of the truss to 18' or maybe a bit more. My thought was to build one that can be mounted to the FEL and rig a winch so that you can bring the boom pole up to vertical w/out the weight of the truss on it, and than raise it with the wiinch.

Don't mean to hijack the post; maybe this ought to go in the attachments section.

The Boom Pole is a Southwest that I purchased for my Farmall 340. It's made from 2 1/2" Sq. Hd. tubing. Rated at 2400 lbs. Thats a lot heavier than I need for my B2910 but I have had it for 25 years. Nobody wanted to give me money for it. I hope to be using it this weekend. Will get some pictures of it for this and another thread.

Many of the Attachments that I have were purchased for other tractors. When I got the 2910 I sold some of the larger attachments and purchased ones that fit.

Thanks, RonJ: I've done "boom pole" searches and read up on this. Sounds like a device that you don't necessarily use very often (unless you do a lot of construction), but that is "worth its weight in gold" when you do.

Ronjhall brings up an excellent point in his long list of attachments (boy I'm jealous). A quicktach system for the front bucket is really nice. I plan on getting an add-on for my 2910 down the road and getting some pallet forks. In addition, you can take the bucket off very quickly if you're mowing instead of the whole FEL. I said in a previous post some time back that I wouldn't buy a tractor without a FEL quicktach bucket, and I stand by that statement.

if the $$$ i s not a major factor then go for the 3130, just remeber to get the size tractor that will most useful for 90% of your work don't ge tone that is est for the 10% and too ig for the rest. make sure u get fel and any other attachment that will cover the footprint of the tractor, and as mentioned a few times before most certainly a TOOTHBAR.

I do admit, I am now strongly leaning towards the L3130 Kubota.

I can get all the features of the B2910 on the L3130 for only about $1500 more. And the L3130 tractor seems a LOT beefier than the B2910 all around. Since I decided that a RFM would probably work for me and dont HAVE to have a MMM, then I dont have the expense of a mid PTO on the L3130, which would save me a little $$$. Then I can use the extra $$$ for other stuff like a rear blade or rake. And since a backhoe is definitely something I want later on, the L3130 seems to be a little more powerful rig.

Is there anyone out there in TBN land that made same logic leap from originally intending to buy a B7800/2910 and ended up going to a L3130?

If so, I would really like to hear from you, too!

(Im kind of a hurting pup right now.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Ive got no tractor on the homestead. The buyer came today with the cash and so now what do I do? I didnt sleep a wink last night trying to come up with the right combination of tractor, implements, cash down and financing.

So how about this for a possibility?

GRAND L3130
FEL, 723
Toothbar
RFM, 72"
Box Blade, 72"
Post hole digger, wife insists we need it for tree planting ... yes, dear
TNT??? I want one real bad....
Cheap landscape rake, 84"

shoud I ask for extra hyd remotes, too? Maybe a front brush guard or front suitcase weights, too????

thanks for being patient with me.
This is a purchase that I would like to last more than 10 years...20 years if possible.

I have a nice machine shed, 40'x40' with a concrete floor to keep all my stuff in...so storage isnt a problem.

But I want the wife and teenagers to use the tractor, too. Is the L3130 too big for them to handle?

The wife says, "Hurry up and figure it all out, you are driving us all nuts!". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Every time I stop at the dealer I look at the 3*30 series tractors. I wish they would add the features to the B series.

Any Grand L that I would buy, has to have HST. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

then I dint have the expense of a mid PTO on the L3130,

If you ever want to add a front snow blower or MMM you will need the Mid-PTO. Cost a lot more to add later. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

FEL

Having 102" and 1500 lbs FEL capacity is better than 80" and 760 lbs. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And the L3130 tractor seems a LOT beefier than the B2910 all around.

Cutting lawn with a 3300 pound tractor will cause a lot of compacting to the lawn. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Cheap landscape rake, 84"

Even a cheap landscape rake should have gauger wheels. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But I want the wife and teenagers to use the tractor, too. Is the L3130 too big for them to handle?

Your wife may not want to run a L3130 because of it's size. My wife would use our B7100, but will not get on the B2910. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

should I ask for extra hyd remotes, too?

I don't use my TNT as much as I thought I would. But I do use the extra hydraulic outlets a lot. You can save some money now by not getting the cylinders. But do get the outlets. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And since a backhoe is definitely something I want later on

A BH is great. I use mine to do digging that I had to do by hand before. But it can always be added later. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

the L3130 seems to be a little more powerful rig.

My dealer says for it's size the L3130 is a little under powered. He prefers the L3430. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

FEL, 723 Toothbar

The Quick Hitch option is a great item to have on a FEL. Yesterday in a matter of minutes I changed from Snow Blade to Bucket to Forks to Boom Pole and back to the Bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"Hurry up and figure it all out, you are driving us all nuts!". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A doubt that this post is going to help. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I think the 2910 and 402 FEL is rated at 960 lbs.

If you have room to store the 3130 and few obstacles in your yard when mowing, then it's a heck of a lot more tractor for the money. It was just too big for most of my property, a fact I am reminded of 4 out of 5 times I'm on my 2910. The 1 out of 5 times I wish I had a bigger tractor. Since I got my Kubota T1670 for lawn mowing, I no longer wish my tractor was smaller, but I used to quite often.
