I can't imagine how many console TVs I repaired in 43 years. Retired 9 years now and customers still occasionally had them repaired before retiring. Many thousands I'm sure I worked on and every night still dream I'm repairing TVs!

I could write a book.
Two quick funnies I thought of: one day an older couple show up to pick up a repaired console, their home about 50 miles away.
I help carry it out and ask..."where's your truck?". "Here" pointing to a Chevy Chevette!
I said, well...here it is...good luck!

I had to get back to work.
A while later guy comes back asking for some tools! (

)...ok...I loan him some tools. Half hour later back in "here's your tools, do you have rope?"...no...but I gave him about 20ft of flat twin lead (you have to be old to remember 300 ohm twin lead

).
I waited 15-20 minutes and walk outside just as they were leaving. The seats strapped to the roof, TV inside the car, they were in front of the TV with chins on the dash!

.
Another service call in apartment, husband, wife, daughter...daughter let's me in whispered "Dad has dementia...pay no attention". So I'm working on this console TV facing three people on the couch, the dad is leering at me slowly pounding his fists.
I fix the TV, adjust convergence and picture is beautiful. Wife & daughter exclaim "Wow! It looks better that new! What do you think dad?" There's this long silence then dad says "I think we ought to beat the hell out of him!".
