Speaking of cutters, I had a coax cutter, had, SWMBO used it to cut some fencing wire, funnily it never worked after that, told her next time ask or I will use her sewing machine as a wheel chock or an anchor.

Bunyip - - I may regret telling you this. I love, am addicted to, gummy bears, also. The ULTIMATE for folks like us - Dutch chocolate covered gummy bears.

It's a seasonal treat around here and only available in one store every Xmas time. Chocolate drenched gummy bears - even more addictive than the Hydromorhpone tabs I take now.

I used to photograph pony club events and always had a pack in my pocket, one of the mothers was a bit concerned that this male who was photographing children had a pack of gummy bears in his pocket, my wife heard the conversation and put it to bed very quickly by telling everyone that I share them with no one...
Haven't seen the chocolate covered ones which is probably a good thing as it makes me sneeze uncontrollably, problem is it doesn't stop me eating it.

unless you build, maintain, and try to constantly improve antennas in the range of 1 to 55 MHZ, you wouldn't have any use for it. I really loved it clear graphics, and easy to use and understand operating system. It is made in Ukraine.
It times like this, I remember why I switched from EE to ME degree.

I am making up for my misspent youth by learning new things in my old age. I do believe you could devote a lifetime to learning about transmission lines (coax and open wire line etc.) and antenna's and how they work together and function as a system.

Think about it, you introduce a bit of Radio Frequency energy into a piece of coax on one end, it travels down the coax and is introduced into a chunk of metal called an antenna, and is radiated into space.

On the other end, perhaps thousands of miles away, somehow a bit of that energy (and a pretty darn small bit at that) excites the electrons in another chunk of metal they guy on the other end is using as an antenna and travels down his coax into his receiver where it is amplified and detected.

Not to mention all of the other millions of RF signals striking his antenna from all over the planet. Somehow, using magic his radio is able to pick out the one little whisper of a few moving electrons in his chunk of metal and hear the other end. Tell me that isn't magic?

We all just accept it as fact and use these principals every day. But not many can really explain it at any level. Even though I know much about how the "magic" works, I still am somewhat in awe when I think about it.

And just how those faint signals are propagated thru the ionosphere and the many types of propagation is another lifetime to understand, and we as humans still only understand only a portion of how it all works.

Maybe you've been naughty... :D

Need to revise...

This morning when I arrived at work there were several gifts on my desk from nurses and support staff.

Some homemade along with gift cards...

The adults in my family rarely exchange gifts... if I see something I know someone would really appreciate exceptions made.

My nephew likes tools... he is 16 so I like to encourage his mechanical side. The nieces really are not into material things... so a check works just fine... for many years I would give them $5 US Gold Coins... even when infants... they have appreciated nicely.

After managing rental properties for 35+ years... I just never could justifying plastic junk for Christmas knowing in a few months it would all be in the dumpster... it was sad seeing even bikes and such in the dumpster at the apartments knowing they were new just a few months back... often it is just a loose nut or a flat tire... one simply had the chain come off!!! I offered to fix the bike with the flat and the mom told me it came from his father and she needed it to be gone...

Even better, ask to use her good sewing scissors to cut the screen cloth when you're replacing screens, or to cut cardboard.

Now you are asking for it!

Sewing scissors surely sacred... say that 3 times fast!

I got a pair of binoculars. Nothing fancy, just Bushnell Pacifica. Strangely enough I used them this morning to spot something on the water. They reminded me to start drooling over the $400 telescope on my wish list.
