Tires what tires are these?

Here in Canada we now need a license to operate any powered watercraft.
And that includes the smallest electric trolling motor.
All this came about because of the pesky jet-boats that buzzed swimmers at the beaches.
Naturally one needs to take a training course to write the exam at cost of $80.

Same here in Oz I think but 'big e's boat was just a canoe that he was using on his own pond!! Is it a powered canoe perhaps?

Re:

420/70x24 width 16.5" height 46.4"

The closest non-metric chain size is a 16.9x24 width 17.4" height 50.6".

Only a ladder style pattern will work because you will need to fit them to the tire then shorten / cut the length.

Make sure you have 3" clearance first.

Tightener (or bungee cords) may be necessary IF after all the hand tightening you do, they are still sloppy / loose at the side chain area.

More info. and pictures is available at my blog Ken Jones Tire Blog

Good luck

Thanks for the size info. Ojonesy.

Why do you say only ladder style? I don't think I've seen others with R4s limited to ladders. I was planning on something more aggressive like the V-bar duo or Double Chains.

Duo Grip or Tru Grip ises and H pattern cross chain, so when you have to shorten them sometimes you end up in the middle of the H pattern.

Double Ring (a ladder style chain) on the other hand there are no problems shortening.

Problem is, now is the end of chain season and combined with all the storms in the Mid-Atlantic states this past month, chain are pretty much gone 'til next season.

Gotcha.

Could I just lose the H at that point in the chain? Or would that severely degrade the function of the chain?

Or, since I'm cutting the chain to shorten anyway... couldn't I cut the middle of the H and just run that section straight across (basically turn the shortened H into a ladder rung?)
