What the heck is making these holes?

Hey, be patient. These mysteries take time. Traps are set, flour is sprinkled, camera is being considered. May have to wait for Spring for the final answer!

Looks like a kind of beetle hole. Buy beg or borrow a game camera and lets see these buggers. If you want them to stop, perhaps a bit of permethrin with some spearmint oil.

At least we found out what was mounted to the 3x3 concrete pad.

I'm in the camp that thinks all these holes have been there and Mr Check just noticed more of them as time progressed. Still, that doesn't answer what created them in the first place.

Clean the floor very well, till you can see the grain. Any remaining secure plugs may be visible then.

This one gets my vote. If you pull up a floorboard, odds are you'll find the plugs.

Nope. Been in Maui, thinking of other things. But back now and heading up this weekend, where there is big flooding. Our lake rose 4 ft. last month with all the rain and melting snow. But the ice is still not out from the lake, although it is very close. Barn doors were blocked with snow last time I was up. Will see if there is anything left this weekend.

OK, got another look at it this past weekend. The dead mouse is gone, and no critter tracks in the powder. And did I miscount, or are there now 15 holes whereas there were only 13 before?
