What temperature does your TC 55 run ?

I gave my machine a workout today lifting frozen wood piles. I couldn't get the temperature guage to indicate warm. It just entered the green section. My TC 45 required a water line from the block to be closed off to increase the operating range. Never thought to ask what degree thermostat was installed at the factory. Anyone else have this problem ?

If it is in the green, it is in the "normal" range. I wouldn't worry about closing off lines, etc., as long as it gets to the green. The green is to show that it is normal, and anywhere in that range is ok.

Because the TC series tractors use an automotive style radiator, then tend to run cooler than most but warm enough to burn clean and smooth. Also, the unique venting and location of the air grills promotes good airflow across the radiator and engine. I agree with Birdman253, in the green is good even if its at the lower end. Restriction of any kind is not a good idea, thats the job of the thermostat to govern.

Even in the hot summer, working the TC48 hard, at 2,000rpm, my temperture gauge hasn't gone above more than 1/4 into the green area. A very cool running machine. I have put the gauge to it, into the radiator, and the temp is right at 180 degrees F. So this tells me that it has good excess cooling capacity.

On the tc55 i have the gauge just touches the green mark and no more.I guess it will warm up more in the summer.The tc40 i had ran in the middle of the green when operating .

Full Pull; Your 55 is the same as mine. Just into the green by a hair. The 45 ran centered in the green... that is why I was curious. Guess I should just put some hours on it and worry less.

Joes our tractor and loader are the same TC55DA 270TL loader . I thougt i would wait and see if i ran warmer in the summer if not i might check the termostat to see if its stuck open .It sounds like there running exactly the same.Just in the green .

Mine usually goes by a hair into the green. I have it seen going quarter ways into the green when mowing at 2100rpm in the summer time and the grass and dust covering the ventholes in the front.

Larry, I see than the newer TC48/55 have the aluminum/plastic radiators, but my much older, October 2005, , TC48 has a radiator much like my Industrial backhoe. A very thick, heavy duty all metal type. I was looking at the newer TC48/55 in the spring of 2006 at the NH dealer and saw that they had gone to the automotive type on them. I'm sure it's a cost cutting measure. I had the Industrial backhoe radiator recored in spring of 2004 and it cost me almost $400, but it is also a 5 pass radiator. Hope it's good for another 20 years.....

I was running the TC55 this weekend, 35 degrees outside temp. I covered approx 75% of the radiator with a sheet of cardboard. Running just a tad over 2100 rpms, I was plowing a few Garden areas, with a 3 bottom 12” Plow , for over an hour. I could barley see a thin green area below the Temp Gauge needle. These machines run cool. We purchased our machine June of ’06, it had been on the dealers lot since the first of Dec ’05. Our machine has the thick all Aluminum Radiator.
