Hi UR,

Thanks for the clarification and more specific information. Good to hear from you!

Did Ron say whether that rig would run well on a B3030?

I use a 9" x 32" auger on my BX24 and it has absolutely no trouble running it from the PTO. The 32" depth is plenty for most applications, and I have plenty of clearance when lifted. The 6" may be fine for chain link, but I still use the 9" for those too. I also just used it to bore 95 holes for planting 3 gallon arborvitae plants. There were so many small roots in the ground that the backhoe was almost worthless for the plantings, but using the auger made it a snap. A 6" auger would not have been big enough for the plants. My soil is pretty sandy, so i was hoping to use a standard 9" auger, instead of the compact tractor 6" version. I'll be setting some 4x4 posts for a deck.I was thinking the 6" version might be a little small for those post. What do you guys think?

<<Have any of you guys used your Bh for setting posts?>>

I did this for two posts; actually they were 16" diameter telephone poles 14' length. I made the tightest holes I could, about 3 1/2 feet deep and it tooks 5 bags of cement each, plus a lot of rocks, to fill 'em up. Its pretty solid because I bumped into one of them pretty hard later. The hard part was raising the poles by myself. Altogether, about 4 hours per pole, mostly due to the pole raising difficulties.
