When I was young, back in the sixties, my dad and I got our Novice together. I built my Heathkit HW-16 and got my WAS award from the ARRL and finally got up to 40 foreign countries QSL confirmations. All on 75 + watts CW. I let my license expire after 1 year and have never renewed. My Dad, now passed, went on and got his General and then Advanced and in the seventies and was active in Navy MARS and helped with communications from Vietnam to back home for the troops. I still have some of Dad's old radios. All outdated by now. Ken Sweet

Ken you should think about getting re-licensed, not that hard, no Morse test anymore, as for your equipment, I bet you could still have a lot of fun with it, of course CW would be the prefered mode most likely for older gear. I also have fond memories of the HW-16 and a handful of 40 meter crystals. I did not own one, it was the property of the club at the University I attended for a while. I hang out mostly on 17, 20 and 40 meters. mostly phone, but some cw and some digital modes too. Let me know if I can help you with anything.

When I turn on my computer, I open up a window for each site and bounce around between all of them. I'll usually close NOAA after reading it, but if there is a storm coming, I might go to my local news station for more details and their interactive radar.
