Why do you think MS got off on the big anti trust lawsuit. Deals were made that benefited the govt. and "national security" interests. Sooner than you think Cash will be outlawed because of it's difficulty in tracing. Everything else leaves a clear trail.

Also the law requiring GPS type chips in all cellphones is not merely for 911 use....
Soon it will be, to arrest someone with a cellphone, just input a command to locate the cellphone of the perp and send the patrol car there. The little screen will say" the suspect is now 300 ft away, turn right."

Most computers don't have embedded serial numbers like cell phones do. Most recent versions of Windows do have a traceable identifier.

Word documents might have one, but I'm betting it was the plain old church name and address. Much simpler and quicker. Remember, there are legions of hackers out there who can easily document technical abuses, if and when they happen. There is a relevant example here.
