Just "having a dealer near by" doesn't lend to brand sustainability As the OP said, lots of them are Mom N Pop shops. I've got one 5 min from my house with no shop to get a tractor in -- started as a small engine shop 2.5 yrs ago and added LS a yr later. Another 20 min from me lost his NH franchise after 59 yrs for not keeping enough inventory or improving his buildings, he went to TYM then switched to LS less than a yr after that. Third dealer about 45 min away, still a Mom N Pop shop but I have better feeling they'll be around but still unsure, they sold Landini before (not exactly a major brand). Another local dealer that sells Deutz, Landini and Branson passed on the opportunity to sell LS several years ago as he didn't feel the support was there he would need as a dealer. I remember reading in another thread about a dealer that was using "a buddy's barn" as his repair shop. Those are the kinds of things that lead to the uneasiness of a buyer -- including me. It's a tough nut to chew on either side of the fence.
To those of you that say you have a dealer with a hundred machines in stock, that's impressive. I'd be surprised if there's a TOTAL of 100 LS machines within several hundred miles of my place.
