I bought a few bulk buckets of various lubricants and made my first attempt at using them changing my front axle fluid yesterday. First I tried measuring by pouring it into smaller, one liter containers through a funnel but that was just a major pain in the ***. Then I tried pouring directly into the tractor through a funnel and it overflowed covering half my garage floor with oil. I figured that there has got to be an easier way to do this.

They make various sizes of bulk dispensers for this. Most are open topped so you can fill them easily, then have a bottom dispensing spout so you never have to tip it.

McMaster Carr sells them. I'm sure dozens of other places do, too.

I don't know what size container you are using but all large liquid containers should poured with the fluid coming out the top hole ? this even looks confusing.. take a rectangular paint thinner can for instance, there is only one cap and one place for liquid to come out, open cap and pour with opening at top and that will make the glug-glug go away and give you a nice smooth pour, it may sound ( not-right ) but try it :D

Go to any parts store, they have hand pumps that replace the top of a 5 gallon pail. They are not that expensive. I saw them in use at the local GM dealer on 5 gallons pails of synthetic gear lubes. They tech had the pail right under the beer truck he was filling with lube and pumping into the axle.

here is one in action YouTube - Hand-Operated 5-Gallon-Pail Lubricant Pump
