Alongside part of our driveway we have about 75' of low growing shrubbery on a bank. The past several years the deer have really done a job on them to the point I just want to rip them out and plant something else. Here is part of the problem:

From the lawn side there is between a 5-7' elevation rise to the driveway. I thought I could use the scarifiers on the box blade to rip them out. The problem with my great idea is when I back up to the bank the box blade just buries into it as the tractor is still level. I can't raise the 3ph enough to grab anything. Working from the driveway side was also a fail.

I'm beginning to think a root grapple would be the right tool. Does a grapple have enough grabbing to be able to rip these plants out? Something else?

I have a ratchet rake, that would do a great job on that.

Just back a bush hog up to it, raised of course, and lower it as necessary to get it whacked.

Does your climate/community/ability allow for burning? A low, slow, controlled burn would take the bushes, weeds and underbrush down to bare ground.

It seems to me the bushes aren’t your problem the deer are. A .30-06 is the implement you need to fix the actual problem.......
